On March 16, 2018, the Comanche Nation formally recognized the Holliday Comanche Marker Tree. It was a celebration that included a Cedar Ceremony blessing, the reading of a resolution officially recognizing the tree as a part of the Comanche history and heritage. Over one hundred people attended the event including Comanche Nation Chairman William Nelson Sr., Comanche Nation Elders Council President Gwen Kerchee, Comanche Nation Committeeman No. 1 Jonathan Poahway, Comanche Singers, Kevin Sovo Sr., Robert Tehauno, and Jim Moore, Comanche Nation Member Robert Atchavit, Holliday Mayor Allen Moore, TXHTC President Mary Graves, and TXHTC Indian Marker Tree Committee Chair Steve Houser.
